There is no official Minecraft 1.22 APK. After the 1.21 updates ended with Mounts of Mayhem (1.21.130) in December 2025, Mojang switched to year-based version numbers. The releases that would have been "1.22" are called 26.x instead — for example 26.10 (Tiny Takeover), 26.30 (Chaos Cubed) and 26.50 (Wilderness Bound). The latest Android version is 26.52. Any file labeled "Minecraft 1.22 APK" is not an official Mojang release.
Table of Contents
For years, every big Minecraft update raised the middle number: 1.18, 1.19, 1.20, 1.21. So when players started waiting for the next major version, "Minecraft 1.22" became one of the most searched terms. The problem is that Minecraft 1.22 never came out, and it never will. Here is what happened and what you should download instead.
Why Minecraft 1.22 Does Not Exist
On December 2, 2025, Mojang announced a new version numbering system for both Bedrock and Java Edition. From 2026, version numbers follow this pattern:
- First number = year (26 for 2026)
- Second number = release (each game drop and update counts up: 26.10, 26.20, 26.30…)
- Hotfixes = small increases after a release (26.51, 26.52)
Mojang made the change because game drops now arrive several times a year. The old system meant the "1." never changed and the middle number stopped telling players anything useful. With year-based numbers you can see at a glance how recent a version is.

Is "Minecraft 1.22 APK" on Download Sites Real?
No. When a website offers a "Minecraft 1.22 APK", it is one of the following:
- A renamed 26.x build copied from Google Play and re-uploaded without permission.
- An old 1.21 build with a new label to catch search traffic.
- A fake or modified file that may contain adware, unwanted apps or malware.
None of these can be verified, none of them update automatically, and most cannot sign in to a Microsoft account for multiplayer. Learn how to spot fake files in Is Minecraft APK safe?
